Gym Etiquette - RESPECT THE PLACE

WTF people!!!....................This goes for all types of people: Muscle heads, Fitness gurus, extreme sports freaks and all other types of gym rats (beginner to expert, old or young, woman or man).

It seems like it get worse and worse as the years go on...... NO RESPECT. Maybe I just see it this way. I try not to pay attention...but I can't because these things are happening around me all the time.

Gym Etiquette:

1) If you can't put it down don't pick it up
This one is a big one, I see it all the time. It scares me because I use the same weights. You see peeps picking up heavy dumbbells doing 3 or 4 reps and then throwing them down like they are garbage. I see them thrown when doing shoulder press or bench press etc.... Why can't these peeps understand that they can break/loosen the dbl or roll the dbl on to someones leg!!. Next time they/I use dbl, it can fall on their heads because it falls a part. Use some controll to put them down..........that's the real show strength.....DON'T THROW THEM!!

2) Put them AWAY!!
Why, why why!! Do you like when dumbbells are all over the gym?? Do you like when you can't find the dbl you want to you use??.....If only people used their brain a little. I know you are working out hard and you are lacking oxygen...but come on, put the things back where they belong(usually there are labels!!). If you like the gym organized then do your job, it doesn't take much effort to put them away....BUT it improves everyone else's workouts by 10 fold!!


3) Don't give the wrong advice
I know you are trying to help.....I know. But before you talk make sure you know what you are talking about. Keep it to you self. So many times at the gym I over hear people talking, not by choice, they just talk loud. You always have the dominant person who just knows he is correct...and he will force his garbage into the other person head........the worst thing is that the other person listens and does it wrong too!! Then they spread the wrong thing...and it goes on and on. Not to mention they might hurt them self by doing it wrong. Spend some time and research some of this stuff, or ask someone else to validate the info....couple minutes won't hurt you......but doing it wrong WILL

4) Respect SPACE
OK! So there is limited space in the gym....... especially in the free weights area...I GET IT...I do. But come on do you have to get in my space!! When I am using a machine, dbl or bbl....do you have to come right beside me....where I have trouble putting on/taking off extra weights(now I have to wait for you)?? Common sense!!

Try not to walk infront of me when I am doing my set....I am in the zone...have the respect and let me finish my set....

The bigest one is........don't talk to me when I am in the middle of my set. I don't give a shit at that point....tell me after, for real!!

5) Make the place a Community
We all have the similar goals.....that's why we are there every day putting the time (getting bigger, fitter, smaller....healthier...etc).....Make the place feel like your second home....make it a nice tight community where you can come in and get away from daily stress....where you can go and just for short time be someone else......be in CONTROL.... When you are there respect each other....HELP each other.....give a hand ...and you will receive back.
